The International Workshop on Exotic Quantum Phases due to Unhappy Electrons
Takeda Hall, Hongo-Asano Campus, University of Tokyo, Japan
November 12(Wed) -14(Fri), 2025

Scope
This workshop focuses on studies related to exotic quantum phases emerging from the following guiding principles:
(1) Confinement in low dimensions,
(2) Frustration/competing interactions,
(3) Quantum criticality,
(4) Multiple degrees of freedom, high entropy,
(5) Unusual valence states, and
(6) Other energetically unstable electronic states.
These guiding principles are common in terms of how one makes electrons in materials energetically unstable (or unhappy) to create exotic quantum phases. We will cover wide-ranging subjects, including correlated electron systems, low-dimensional systems, quantum spin systems, superconductors, and spin-orbit physics.
